My laptop has 2 GB of RAM. I still don't fully understand what this means, but its memory and performance seem to be fine.

Are you using 64-bit OS?

Besides, it's useless to futureproof on RAM, as it gets much faster by time, e.g. 2 years ago, 600Mhz were popular, now 1333 Mhz are the thing.

Im supported by my graphics memory. 1gb of DDR3 on board with a 875mh core clock (975mh overclock)

But I don't need tons of RAM for the editing software and games that I play. 8gb is holding out fine for what I need. But like I said, futureproofing ftw.

But if you're sitting on a 32-bit WinXP (if you don't know, then 95% you are sitting on it), then you have unused 5 Gigs or RAM. WinXP 32bit can and only will use MAX 3GB or RAM. It doesn't understand more.

But if you go to 64bit Windows, most of the apps/games will become unusable/unplayable.

I have 2 GB ram, any computer that has over 4 gigs of ram is kinda unnecessary in my opinion.
