I've got 4GB. But too bad it's WinXP (32-bit). Can't really use all of it.
I think 8GB for Win7 (64-bit) is best. No need for swap drive.

W7 Ultimate 32-bit with 2GB RAM. I plan on upgrading to 4GB. Is more RAM possible? (I'm a noob at this stuff)

mine ram is 2GB/Go DDR2...i think is "quite" good

I have a laptop though, so it's not expandable

2GB trying to get more though. Epecially since its an older computer and goes extremly slow no matter what amount of ram is on.

4gb. I average about 1.8GB RAM usage on a constant basis doing everyday tasks, so this is more than enough. Plus, its clocked at 1600mhz.
