The site all started when i want to get a free item online, but i need to sign up for a webhosting company. After signing up, i didnt do anything to it. I was also a member of Team Baka in the LunarAnime forums, but since LunarAnime forums dont like the TeamBaka, the teambaka's leader decided to start a new site. However this got me an idea and I began the site on 1-10-2005 with a front page and a tiny forum. Then the forum got messed up and i reopen the forums on 1-30-2005 (birthday of aost =]). However it was not for animeost, more like letting peeps to hotlink mp3 background music for xanga and other blog site. It was under the domain www.xtazy4u.com and was run under StartLogic as my webhost. I only have 1gb of space and 40gb of bandwidth. You can see how the site used to look like.

As the site got popular, i was forced to move servers. I switched to Plex6. which provided me 5gigs of space and 89gigs of bandwidth. I then created a new layout for the front site using photoshop. You can see it (lots of dead images) on google's cache

Then Plex6 got problems and i switch to DreamHost, which provided me 192gb of bandwidth and 7 gigs of space. They later boost it to 1.6 Terabyte of bandwidth and 60gigs of space. Things was going good for many months. Lots of people posting and was having fun during the summer of '05. However the site was getting heavy traffic and because i was on a shared host, DreamHost complained. So then i later purchased my first dedicated server on March '06. It was expensive because it's monthly cost is high! It was running smoothly for a few weeks until DDoS starts. I then decide to seek a better protection and switched to a new host. Buy dedicated server was even more. However DDoS still occurs, so i switch to a final host and the DDoS stops, BUT its a hell expensive.
So yea thats a quick history of how the site started. I spent lotta of mny to keep this site alive =]. So donations would help too d(^_^)b
AnimeOST.NET started with a couple of mods, two of which you don't see around regularly. Push for moderators came and Hika-chan (then known and 1Thing) become one of the more regular moderators here. later on, cinderella, our first gallery admin, became a moderator, followed by Ragnarok, myself (azn86.jedi). cinderella had to leave for work reasons, and though she's been back occasionally she hasn't reclaimed her mantle of gallery moderator. During that time, all three moderators barely could keep our heads out of the water juggling moderation duty as well as gallery stuff with our individual lives (complaints came stating that a pile of images were not correctly nor adequately accredited to their authors, hence the extra work).Version 1

Since then, Lord Katsuhito (who can go by Inu-Yasha now) join the ranks of AnimeOST.NET's moderators, and replaced cinderella as gallery admin. Katsuhito was (and still is i think) the admin of AnimeReflections, another anime forum which is also dedicated to a lot of graphical artwork. It was also roughly this time when I (azn86.jedi) complied together the Forum Guidelines, and Ragnarok published the ever updatind (which is now due for a major update) General FAQs, which were approved by our colleagues. During this time, it was decided that several areas of the gallery were to be purged completely and resetup
The moderators soon found themselves in too much work to do, and decided unanimously to recruit more staff. Arne, SnowDew and Bane were the first in the moderators first recruiting drive. With staff living in different places (the majority are in the States) and due to plenty of stuff going on in out individual lives, while Arne had to leave for academic reasons, a few months later awang, Z_Blitz and cookie_baby (now the ominous Maou-Heika XD) were invited to the AnimeOST.NET Administration and Moderation team, and each of them put in charge of different sections of the forum.
Z_Blitz and Maou-Heika inadvertantly became the renouned contest masters, taking over from Ragnarok who used to be in charge, and after months of planning, released the first major team tournament in AnimeOST.NET. With the advent of problems that came with the DDoS attacks, the contest was put on hold and the forum was shut down.
The community, or what was left of it "fled" to the temporary sanctuary that was an invisionfree board set up by none other than split, an AnimeOST.NET regular. Things were fine for a while, until a hacker practically destroyed the forum and it's contents, and locked out the administration and a few moderators.
I then proceeded to create yet another temporary forum , which to this day only has a few members (for security reasons), and is currently on standby should this home of Anime OSTs fall for apparent reasons again.
